Bye Bye, Buy: Conair vs. Goody

Bye Bye: Conair
Buy: Goody

Bad Hair Don’t Care

A simple choice like scrunchies and claw clips should not have an end result of contributing to taking rights away from women. And yet. Conair’s senior leadership has donated to GOP leaders Donald Trump, Rand Paul, and Ted Cruz to name a few. Of the Conair executive team, only 17% is female. Did you know that Conair Corporation also owns a ton of your favorite beauty and household brands? Think Scuncii, Rusk, and Cuisinart. Selling kitchen appliances to women to support causes at war against them is very cheeky, Conair. You almost had us.

Good Hair Day, Every Day

There are plenty of good guys in the beauty arena, Goody being an obvious alternative with a great track record and moniker with “good” already in it. 60% of the employees are women, including the CEO, Katy Carrigan. The company has remained relatively small and focuses on doing what they do best: hair ties, bobby pins, and accessories. Not patriarchal domination over the very customers they serve.
